Case Study 2024-06-13A Taiwanese leading nonwoven manufacturer, has recently completed a significant retrofitting project on their 3600mm nonwoven slitter rewinder, model EG-2001GA. Originally acquired in 2014 for handling nonwovens, this upgraded slitter is now set to meet the demands of their growing overseas market.
The modifications were primarily driven by the need to accommodate local market demands and comply with local safety regulations.
Goals of the Retrofitting Project
The main objectives of this project were to enhance performance, increase efficiency, and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Scope of the Upgrades
This comprehensive upgrade included several key modifications :
1.Increasing Rewind Outer Diameter (OD) from 1200mm to 1500mm
- Modifications to the machine frame, guideways, chain system, and actuation system
- Benefit : Reduced downtime and increased productivity.
2.Enhance Shaft Handling Device
- Addition of a shaft handling device to accommodate 3" and 6" rewind shafts.
- Benefit : Include a hands-free system for enhanced efficiency and safety.
3.Renewing Wiring and Cable Carrier
- Renewal of wiring and cable carriers to adhere to local regulations.
- Benefit : Improvements in operational safety and reliability.
4.Renewing Pneumatic Knife Cutters
- Renewal full set of pneumatic knife cutters.
- Benefit : Improved cutting precision and overall machine performance.
5.Inspecting and Renewing Electrical Parts
- Replacement of electrical parts based on professional evaluation.
- Benefit : Ensure optimal functionality and safety.
6.Driven System Upgrade
- Replacement of the rewind motor and drive.
- Benefit : Installation of an advanced motor for improved performance and reliability.
